How to get from Lido di Jesolo to Venice
Before getting down to the various transport options, I’m first going to clarify how far Venice is from Jesolo Lido and if it’s really worth visiting Venice for a day.
I’ll then go on to explain how you can get from Lido di Jesolo to Venice by bus, car and ferry so you can choose which option is the most suitable for you.
Where is Venice?
Venice is the capital of Veneto, in north east Italy. The city is built on 118 islands, divided by canals and connected by bridges in the middle of the Venetian lagoon. Venice and its lagoon have been UNESCO World Heritage since 1987.
You can get to Venice from the mainland by crossing the Liberty Bridge (Ponte della Libertà). This bridge is one of the longest bridges in Italy (4 kilometres long) and you can cross it by car, bus, tram and train.
If you happen to be arriving in Venice by car, bus or tram, you will arrive in Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto island.
The train station of Venezia Santa Lucia (to not confuse with Venezia Mestre that’s on the mainland) will be your point of arrival if you’re travelling to Venice by train.
In terms of distance, Venice is located:
- 9 kilometres away from Mestre;
- 14 kilometres away from Marco Polo airport;
- 40 kilometres away from Treviso;
- 41 kilometres away from Padua.
Is Venice worth visiting from Lido di Jesolo?
Yes, Venice is worth visiting from Lido di Jesolo whether it’s for a day or even for a couple of days longer. If you’re currently spending your beach holiday in Jesolo Lido and have enough time to include a day trip to Venice, I definitely recommend doing it.
Not only is it easy and affordable to get to Venice, but it’s also a unique opportunity to see the city of bridges and canals while you are in this neck of the woods.
While here, you can spend time strolling around the narrow streets, admiring iconic attractions such as St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace and Rialto Bridge and tantalise your tastebuds with the most traditional Venetian cuisine.
Then to feel even more like a Venetian, drinking a glass of Spritz and eating cicchetti at the bacaro as well as riding a gondola on the Grand Canal will be a 100% must.
For me the list of reasons why Venice is worth visiting gets longer each year, and I can guarantee that Venice never disappoints if you know how to make the most of it.
💡 Local’s tip: if you’re in Lido di Jesolo in the summer, avoid visiting Venice on the weekends. I suggest visiting on weekdays. Get there as early as possible and return around sunset so you can enjoy incredible views of the lagoon literally on fire!
