Bus from Venice to Treviso Airport
One of the most popular options among visitors to Venice is the bus from Piazzale Roma to Treviso airport. This solution is cheap, reliable and fairly fast too.
There are 3 different shuttle bus companies providing this service:
- ATVO
- Barzi
- Terravision
ATVO airport bus express
The ATVO airport bus express leaves from Piazzale Roma and drops passengers right outside the front of the airport. This bus stops in also Mestre train station and Mestre Corso del Popolo.
If you happen to be travelling before 9am and after 5pm, you will find that there is a bus every hour, and when travelling between 9am and 5pm, every 30 minutes.
It is also worth noting that the timetable can slightly change based on the day of the week, so be sure to check the ATVO Treviso airport official web page. The one way ticket costs 12 euros and the return ticket is 22 euros (includes luggage).
Time is always of the essence when in Venice so why not get your one way or round trip ATVO ticket in advance and save yourself from queuing at the airport?
Where else can you purchase your ATVO bus ticket?
- At the ATVO office in Piazzale Roma, near the Carabinieri station or the automatic machine just outside the office;
- At the ‘Il Chiosco di Puff’ newsagent, just 5 metres away from the ATVO bus stop in Piazzale Roma;
- At the tobacco shop Botazzo;
- At the Agenzia Novo Tour in Piazzale Roma
- At the Agenzia 365 inside Santa Lucia train station.
Barzi and Terravision
You will also be glad to know that the private coach companies Barzi and Terravision have been operating for years with their reliable and comfy shuttle bus services connecting Venice to Treviso airport and vice versa.
The point of departure in Venice is on Tronchetto island, just a few metres away from the People Mover station and the vaporetto stop ‘Tronchetto’.
Both bus tickets cost 10 euros one way and 18 euros return, with a validity of 10 days (baggage is also included with this price).
The buses take 40 minutes to get to Treviso airport from Tronchetto.
What I like about this service is that when booking online you can also select the seat you prefer to sit in. Then, the only stop that both buses do is at Mestre railway station.
Train from Venice to Treviso Airport
Treviso airport doesn’t have a train station, so there are no direct trains from Venice Santa Lucia to Treviso airport. Instead, first get to Treviso Centrale and from there get a (10 minute) bus to the airport. The Airlink buses leave every 30 minutes.
With this way, note that the train ride from Venice Santa Lucia to Treviso Centrale lasts around 31 minutes by fast regional train or 37 minutes by regional train.
You can book your train ticket with Trenitalia or using the app Trainline. There are trains connecting the two cities every 10 to 15 minutes, so there’s plenty of choice!
Once you get to Treviso train station, just hop on the first Treviso Airlink bus with direction Treviso Antonio Canova airport.
I recommend that when you purchase the train ticket online or from the ticket office in Venice Santa Lucia, you choose the arrival station ‘Treviso Aeroporto’.
Do this instead of booking the train ticket only to Treviso Centrale, so you will get the combined ticket train + bus. This option will save you time and money.
Driving from Venice to Treviso Airport
Driving from Venice to Treviso airport is the most time-effective solution but also the most expensive. This is mostly because parking in Venice is expensive. It takes 30 to 40 minutes on average to get to the airport by car, depending on the traffic.
Avoid rush hour, from 7:30am to 9am and from 5pm to 7:30pm, it could take you 1 hour. During these times of the day most people travel by car to and from work. Most traffic congestion happens as you get closer to the mainland, in the Mestre area.
You can either get the A27 motorway to go via Via della Libertà. The motorway is faster but you have to pay a toll to access it.
If you decided to rent a car at the beginning of your trip, you can drop it off by taking the second entrance to the airport on your left.
Then, once inside the airport just follow the internal road system turning right and follow the signs for ‘Rent a car’. If you just want to park your car, then you can leave it in one of the 5 long-term parking lots around the airport.

This service is provided by the Cooperativa Artigiana Radiotaxi, which happens to be the main taxi company authorised in the city of Venice.
You can book your taxi directly on their website, via the app, calling or sending an SMS. The taxi will pick you up from Piazzale Roma.
The estimated fare to take you from Piazzale Roma to Treviso airport is 100 euros including airport surcharge and is meant for up to 4 people with their luggage.
