If you have an emergency need to get to the opposite bank of Canale Grande and there is no sight of a bridge anywhere, don’t panic. There are several crossing-stations along Canale Grande. Tourists can be brought to the other bank by gondolas called traghetto. They are operated by two gondoliers and cost next to nothing (to Venice’s measure) – only 50 eurocents.
