Rialto Bridge (Ponte Rialto)

If you are lost in Venice and suddenly you see this silhouette – then it’s all set, you are in the centre. Rialto Bridge, or Ponte Rialto is one of the eternal symbols of Venice. At different times wooden bridges were built here but they were ruined by fires. The last edition collapsed 1444 under the weight of the crowd idlers that gathered to watch marquis Ferrara’s wife. The stone Rialto attended by tourists now was built in the 16th century. It’s always very busy on the bridge at a day-time. There are small trifle-souvenir and jewelry shops here. Try haggling.
