The biggest and one of the most famous hotels in Venice is situated in a Gothic palace owned long time ago by Doge Dandolo’s family. In 1822 a hotel was established here.
In the 1940s new wings were added on to the building. Rooms are more comfortable and modern there but they lack charm of the olden times. The best rooms of the hotel are in the old part with the view of the Riva degli Schiavoni embankment – they still preserve mysteries of medieval grandees. It’s easy to find: the second building from Doge’s Palace along the Lagoon.
